Flat Art Copy:
ColorWorks offers both traditional
and digital methods of copying flat art. While we expect
35 mm film slides to be phased out at some point in the
future, some individuals still require this format.
We charge a flat rate of $50 per hour + film processing.
The minimum charge
is one hour.
Typically, we provide
3 exposures of each piece of artwork. one normally exposed,
one slightly lighter exposed, and one slightly darker
exposed. The first piece naturally takes the most time
as it requires setting up the lights, camera, tripod
etc.
Additional pieces
of art go much faster, and consequently are less expensive
to produce.
Copy Work for Reproduction Applications:
For pieces up to 11x17 inches in size we use a flatbed scanner.
Color fidelity and sharpness are excellent.
For pieces up to 16x20 inches we can scan the piece in two
and then and stitch them together electronically.
For highly textured pieces we prefer to photograph them,,
as the surface of oil paintings (for example) is too abrasive
for the fragile glass surface of the scanning bed.
For pieces that will be produced less than 16x20 inches
we use a 12 megapixel digital camera.
For artwork that will be produced larger than 16x20 inches,
or where it is essential that extremely fine detail be preserved
we use a 4x5 digital scanning back with resolution of
over 100 megapixel.
Pricing Guide:
35 mm film slides $50.00 hr. + processing
Artwork up to 11x17 inches in size : $15.00 per item.
Scan and stitch $45.00 per item.
12 Mega pixel Digital capture $55.00 per item.
4x5 inch Digital scanning back $85.00 per item.
